Go Behind the Scenes with the New York on Location Street Fair

Want a behind-the-scenes look at film production in New York? You can get that this Sunday May 22nd – along with what’s promised as a “family-friendly” street fair – if you head on over to the Kaufman Astoria Studios and the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens.

Things just wouldn’t be complete on this make believe set if you didn’t have a chance to see makeup and hair demos, along with crews that will deliver weather effects like snow and rain.

What might be more intriguing: the public will be able to visit inside over 20 working movie trailers and trucks-straight from productions shooting in New York. We’re made to understand that “movie professionals” will be on hand to disclose what they do on set. You’ll also get the low down as to just what the Theatrical Teamsters Local 817 and I.A.T.S.E. Local 52 do around a film set, since the two unions are also participating.

Admission is free all day at the Museum of the Moving Image, so pop over if you want to catch a film or take in the historic collection of costumes, cameras

Where: Kaufman Astoria Studios backlot (36 Street, between 34 & 35 Ave), Museum of the Moving Image (36-01 35 Ave), and surrounding streets-at the heart of the Kaufman Arts District.

Weather Effects (snow and rain), and Hair and Makeup Demonstations will be ongoing throughout the day. Free face painting and hair extensions for kids!
